Vice-President for University Relations
Case Western Reserve University

Lara Kalafatis began her career at Case Western Reserve University in March 2001 and has served as vice president for university relations at Case Western Reserve University since January 2005. Prior to working at the university, she worked for five years under the leadership of the late Director Robert P. Bergman at the Cleveland Museum of Art.

As vice president for university relations, Lara is responsible for university services, relations and programs that engage and support all university audiences. Lara has strengthened the internal and external communications department for the university by leading the re-branding efforts for the university including the implementation for the current logo, launched the first on-line “Case Daily” and new magazine “Think.”

In 2004 Lara served as the senior liaison from the university to the Commission on Presidential Debates, directly responsible for attracting the Vice Presidential Debate to CWRU and in leading the community wide effort of programs that created the Race at Case. Since that time, she has created unique programming for the university that engages our community that includes a faculty spotlight series, community service day, and distinctive donor recognition programs.  In addition, Lara led the efforts to create one alumni association that represents all alumni and developed the first ever all alumni weekend to be held in the universities history.

From 2008-2011, Lara led the quiet phase of programming for the universities campaign and led a team to launch the public phase of the campaign Forward Thinking, the Campaign for Case Western Reserve University, launched in October 2011.
